Salvatore Mastrovito, 62, of Shrewsbury passed away Monday, July 13th 2009 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital after a brief illness. Sal is survived by his wife of 40 years Maureen M. (Santa Maria) Mastrovito; his two children, Jason S. Mastrovito of Shrewsbury and Lisa M. Wilhelmsen and her husband Eric of Holden; a cherished granddaughter Emily Rose; a sister, Shirley Maffei of Worcester; his mother in law Louise Pavone and her husband Peter; several nieces, nephews and extended family including, Sandra A. Zdonczyk and her husband Paul, Karen E. Sherback and her husband Charles, Diane M. and Shauna L. Moriarty. A special Aunt, Josephine (DeSalvio) Moriarty and brother in law, Angelo Santa Maria pre deceased him. Salvatore was born in Worcester son of the late Salvatore and Ann (Petrone) Mastrovito. He attended Commerce High, joined the Navy and served his country during Vietnam and has lived in Shrewsbury since 1987. Sal worked more than 29 years for Aggregate Industries, formerly Dalphaunis Concrete before retiring recently. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 170, and the Grafton American Legion Post. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, July 16th from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A private graveside service will be held in Mt View Cemetery.
