Vincent C. Baroni, 84, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully Monday, June 29th 2009 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence surrounded by his family. Vincent is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lillian (Ricciardi) Baroni; his devoted daughter Christine, son-in-law Reno, and his two adoring grandsons Reno Vincent and Christopher Richard Nolli, all of Shrewsbury, and many nieces and nephews. Vincent's sister Phyllis Vignaly passed away in 2004. Vincent was born in Worcester, the only son of Carmine and Rose (Iannotti) Baroni. He graduated from North High School and later served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy Seabees. Upon his return home, Vincent earned his degree from Suffolk University in Boston. He worked as an accountant for the William Reisner Corporation in Clinton for nearly 40 years before retiring and had lived in Shrewsbury for more than 51 years. Vincent would often volunteer his time at the Patton School in Shrewsbury. He was a member of St. Mary Church, and the Eastside Post 201, American Legion in Worcester. Vincent was an enthusiastic Red Sox fan who rarely missed a game. He enjoyed traveling to his home in Florida and spending time on Cape Cod. Vincent drew great inspiration from his two wonderful grandsons. He cherished the time spent with them. "Papa" never missed a Little League game or other special event his boys were involved in. They were his life. The funeral will be held Thursday, July 2nd, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 640 Main St. Burial with Military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday, July 1st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
