Richard M. Creamer, 74, of Sutton, passed away Tuesday (June 16, 2009) at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Alice M. (Pietro) Creamer and would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 20, 2009. Richard was born on September 7, 1934, in Worcester, the son of the late John F. and Dorothy U. (Portle) Creamer. He grew up in Worcester and lived in Paxton for over 20 years before moving to Sutton, MA. Attorney Creamer was most recently a partner in the law firm Peters and Creamer. Previously, he was a partner in Creamer, Dunn, Peters and Moudios, and before that, a partner in O'Brien, Creamer, and Brennan. Richard served as staff counsel at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company from 1967 to 1981. Attorney Creamer served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. He was a graduate of St. Peter's High School, Worcester, a cum laude graduate of the College of the Holy Cross (56) and Suffolk University School of Law ('67). He was an active member of the Worcester County Bar Association where he served on the Worker's Compensation Committee and was recognized by the Committee for his outstanding contribution to the legal profession. In 2005, Attorney Creamer received the St. Thomas More Society Diocese of Worcester Distinguished Attorney Award. He served as director and corporate clerk for Colony Retirement Homes for over 30 years. Richard was also the President of the Board of Trustees of Woodburyville Heights and a parishioner of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Sutton. Attorney Creamer enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Owl's Head, ME, fishing, cruising in his boat, tending his flower gardens, and watching Western movies. His grandchildren were the love of his life. Richard was preceded in death by two daughters, Cynthia M. and Melissa A. Creamer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Mark A. Creamer and his wife Erika R. (Schmidt) of Sutton; his daughter Jennifer M. Creamer and her husband Randy A. Fink of Lock Haven PA. He also leaves two brothers: Robert C. Creamer and his wife Mary Ruth of Auburn, John F. Creamer and his wife Margaret of Worcester; A sister Ann T. Firlings and her husband Carl of Hyde Park, NY; four grandchildren: Matthew, Samantha, Zoe, and Daphne; many nieces, nephews, associates and friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 19th from 4:00-7:00pm at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 10:00AM at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Boston Road, Sutton, MA. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
