Rev. Daryl Turel Barnes was called to be with the Lord, peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 31, 2009. Born January 6, 1963, Rev. Barnes was a well loved Minister and Street Evangelist in the Main South area and other Worcester neighborhoods. Rev. Barnes was ordained at Second Baptist Church in Worcester on June 24, 2001. He had a heart for the sick and suffering and kept a continuing ministry to Worcester's homeless and addicted. Discipled by Pastor Thurman T. Hargrove of Second Baptist Church, Rev. Barnes had a deep understanding of God's word and a deep love for God's people, most especially those less fortunate and troubled. His ministry was responsible for leading dozens of Worcester's lost to Christ. Rev. Barnes was apprenticed in Evangelism by The Victory Outreach Ministry in Baltimore, Maryland. He was experienced in Evangelism in several major cities in the Northeast and throughout the country. In addition to his ministry Rev. Barnes was employed by Safeway Luxury Transportation, where he was well loved by staff and clients alike. Rev. Barnes was a gifted drummer and enjoyed entertaining, with a natural gift for working with children. He was the faithful son of Fannie and Andrew Butler, Rev. Barnes was a loving father to his daughter, Chanelle Jones and infant son, Daryl Turel Spillane Barnes, Jr. He is also survived by his sisters, Kim Pina, Dawn Pina, Estelle Barnes and her children Brianna Barnes, Gregory Barnes, Justin Barnes and Kenny Barnes; four brothers, Johnny Pina, Andrew Butler, Neal Butler and Terence Butler; his grandmother, Rosie Barnes; his special friends, Pam Moore, Deacon Wendell Price, Pastors Thurman Hargrove and Kerry Keefe; as well as eight aunts, four uncles, and a host of cousins, friends, and brothers and sisters in the Lord. Services will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. in Second Baptist Church, 14 Hammond Street, Worcester. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. IN THE CHURCH.
