Hilda H. (Kouri) Sear, formerly of Worcester, having just celebrated her 88th birthday on Friday, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Albert D. Sear, pre-deceased her in 1976. She is survived by two daughters, Alicia Howe and her husband James of Shrewsbury, and Carolyn Pescaro and her husband Joseph of Holden, with whom she was living; five grandchildren Meagan Bocsi, James Howe III, Cara Howe, Michael Pescaro and Ryan Pescaro; several cousins, including, her special cousins, Yola and Robert Beliveau and George and Diane Bourisk; many nieces and nephews. Hilda was born in Zahle, Lebanon the daughter of Taft and Emilia (Ghantous) Kouri, and came to this country, settling in Worcester at the age of three. Mrs. Sear worked as a mortgage officer at Bay State Savings Bank, retiring in 1987. She had previously worked at the former Worcester Wire Works. She was a member of Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, it's Women's Society and VIP Group. The family would like to sincerely thank her home health aides, Angela Finne and Deborah Therrien, for their constant devotion and care. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 29 at 11 a.m. in Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 28, In MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Trisagion Service held at 7:30 p.m. A second time of visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. IN THE CATHEDRAL, immediately prior to the funeral service.
