Charles E. "Charley" Lucci, 81, of Worcester, a retired Worcester Police Sergeant, passed away Tuesday, May 26th 2009 in the Jewish Health Care surrounded by his family. Charley is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 46 years Suzanne N. (Brewer) Lucci; A cherished daughter, Suzanne F. Aucoin and her husband Mark of Holden; an adored granddaughter, Megan S. Aucoin; nieces and a nephew. Two brothers, Joseph and Edward Lucci pre deceased him. Charley was born in Worcester, a son of the late, Henry and Florence (Rotondo) Lucci. He graduated from Commerce High School, and served as a U.S. Army Medic during the Korean War. While on the Police force, Charley attended Quinsigamond Community College and has lived here all his life. Charley worked for the City of Worcester, as a Police Officer retiring as a sergeant in 1973. Charley also worked as an entertainer. He was a MC and Comedian in the 1960's & 1970's known locally as the Worcester's own Jerry Lewis" and "The Singing Policeman" He was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, the International brotherhood of Police Officers union, the Massachusetts Police Association, the Worcester Police Relief Association and the Worcester Musician's Union. Charley had a passion for Golf and was a member of Green Hill Golf Course. He was a family man who cherished his family; they were his inspiration and actual enjoyment in life. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
