Frank J. "Chick" Ciccarelli, 87, of Worcester died peacefully Saturday May 9, 2009 surrounded by his loving family in the Radius Healthcare Center. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years Mary (Esposito) Ciccarelli, three loving daughters Frances A. Ciccarelli of Worcester, Joann M. Ciccarelli of North Grafton and Maryann Alfego and her husband Joseph of Shrewsbury, two grandsons; Michael J. and David J Alfego, two sisters Erminia "Minnie" Morocco, and Mary Silaidos both of Worcester, and many nephews and nieces. Frank was predeceased by a sister Amelia Quercio, and four brothers; Nicholas, Victor, Carmine, and Armando Ciccarelli. Frank was born in Worcester son of the late Agesilao and Bernadetta (Ranucci) Ciccarelli and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. Chick was a U. S. Navy veteran of WW11 and the Korean Conflict. He was serving aboard the U. S. S. Princeton when it was attacked in the Leyte Gulf in the Phillipine Islands. He received nine battle stars and several medals of commendation. Frank was a tool and die specialist Machinist for the Worcester Gear Works for 34 years before he retired. Previous to that he worked at the former Pullman Standard Company. He was a life member of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, and it's Golden Years Club, a member of the East Side Post #201 American Legion, and the East Side Improvement Club. Chick enjoyed walking, music, and all kinds of sports, many years ago he played for the Worcester Night Hawks.But his most precious moments are those spent with his family, especially his grandsons. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Chick's family would like to give a special thanks to the entire staff on the 4th floor of the Radius Healthcare Center, and also to the Allegiance Hospice employee's for their kind and compassionate care shown to Frank and his family. Frank's funeral will be held Wednesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:AM in Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 5-8PM on Tuesday. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Our Lady Of Mt. Members of the East Side Post 201 will meet at the funeral home at 7PM to conduct their ritual.
