Armando J. Rossi, 90, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Armando is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Victoria V. (Giabatti) Rossi; two beloved daughters, Gloria J. Ciappenelli and her husband Donald of Weston, Paula M. Lettic and her husband Thomas of Northborough; two brothers, William Rossi of Sturbridge and Alfred Rossi in New Hampshire; four cherished grandchildren, Robert D. and Leah D. Ciappenelli, Nicholas R. and Amanda L. Lettic; three great grandsons, Benjamin, Andrew, and Dakota; several nieces, nephews and friends. Two brothers, John and Philip Rossi and four sisters, Lucy Marino, Louise Leboeuf, Victoria Sund and Beatrice Bembenek all pre deceased him. Armando was born in Worcester his parents were the late Amadeo and Angelina (Iannucci) Rossi. At the age of 5, Armando went to live with his Aunt Mary and Uncle Joe Pasquarello, better known on Shrewsbury Street circles as "Joe 53" he attended Worcester Boys Trade and entered the U.S. Army serving during World War II, as a Military Policeman receiving an honorable discharge in August of 1943 returning home to Worcester. Armando worked many years for Kennedy Die Casting Company before retiring. He was a founding member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, and a member of the UCT. Armando was a devoted husband, father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone whom he was around for his infectious sense of humor and comfortable demeanor. Armando enjoyed working in his yard, taking care of needs around his home, bowling, and ice skating, woodworking, drawing and fixing what needed to be repaired. He was also an avid fan of sports and dedicated to the Red Sox. Armando's funeral will be held Monday, April 27th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, April 26th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
