Carmela A. (Mazzone) Santoro, devoted mother and grandmother passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 22nd at home surrounded by her family. Carmela's husband of 51 years Charles "Chuck" Santoro, Sr. passed away in 2001. She is survived by her three children, Ralph C. Santoro and his wife Gail of Shrewsbury, Charles R. Santoro, Jr. and his wife Beth of Millbury, Pamela M. Lanava and her husband Santo of Worcester; five cherished and adored grandsons, Nicholas, Ryan, Matthew, Kyle, and Brendan; two sisters, Michelena Terlizzi and Antoinette Palermo both of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A brother Jerry Mazzone pre deceased her. She was born in Worcester; her parents were the late Joseph and Mary (Oliveri) Mazzone. She graduated from Commerce High School and has lived here all her life. Carmela worked for Doc Chauvin Marina several years before retiring in 1975. She previously worked 15 years for the former Waite's Industrial in Worcester. Carmela was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and the former St. Margaret Mary Church. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her family was her life. She cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren; they were her inspiration and life. Carmela's funeral will be held Friday, April 24th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, April 24th from 9a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Umass-Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St. Worcester 01605. The entire Santoro family would like to acknowledge the Umass-Memorial Hospice team, for the dedication, care and comfort they gave to their mother during this difficult time.
