Janet G. (Gentile) Turturro, 91, of Alpharetta, Georgia, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the home she shared with her daughter, Verna. Janet's husband, Gerald M. Turturro, pre-deceased her in 1996. Mrs. Turturro is survived by two daughters, Verna Kimura, with whom she lived, and Sandra Lee Taylor-Anderson and her husband Gary of Alpharetta; two grandchildren, Justin Bongiorno and Brooke Taylor ; a great grandson Christian Harrison Taylor-Kimura; nieces and nephews. Janet was born in Worcester, daughter of Carl and Concetta (Masiello) Gentile, and graduated from Worcester's Commerce High School. She later lived in New Jersey, before moving to Shrewsbury in 1961. She moved to Alpharetta in 2005, and continued to be active and happy being close to her daughters. Janet worked for many years as a cosmetic representative at Hale Drug Store in Shrewsbury, for over twenty-one years. She had previously been a representative for Carroll's Cosmetics in Worcester. She had been a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, and was a member of the Saint Jude Society for over forty years. She was a generous, loving , and charitable woman who would share gifts with those in need, during the holiday season. Janet enjoyed her gardens, flowers, knitting, cooking, and her doll collection. The funeral for Mrs. Turturro will be held Thursday, April 23, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 22 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
