Duncan Forrest Putnam, of Sutton, Massachusetts, passed away April 11th, 2009 while undergoing a liver transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Sutton and graduated from Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School. As a child, Duncan would go to work with his father at Putnam Sheet Metal and he continued working the family business until the time of his illness. He was an avid hunter and had great respect for wildlife. He was the Rifle Range Chairman at the Singletary Rod and Gun Club where he had many friends. All that knew Duncan, loved and respected him for his kind heart and gentle spirit. Yearly he would take part in "Big Moe," an event, for children, which incorporated outdoor activities with learning facts about wildlife and nature. He gave his time to many annual functions at the Rod and Gun Club. He was known as "Daddy Duncan" to his stepchildren and grandchildren and they all loved his patience and guidance. He is survived by his significant other of 17 years, Brenda (Borci) Richard, his mother, Albertine (Lemay) Putnam, a sister, Gretel Smith and her husband Raymond all of Sutton, a brother Barry and wife Helen of Cambridge, Maine, and many nieces and nephews. His father, who was also his best friend, Barry Brooks Putnam, died in 1990. Per Duncan's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Duncan Putnam can be made to Mayo Clinic, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, Minnesota 55905 for the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville Liver Transplantation research program.
