Anthony G. Venincasa, 77, formerly of Sterling Street passed away Friday, April 3rd 2009 in the Autumn Village Long Term Care Center surrounded by his family. Anthony's wife of 44 years Marie E. (Standring) Venincasa passed away in 1998. Anthony is survived by his four children, Judith Ricard of Spencer, Carmela Westcott of Watertown, CT, Ellen Venincasa of Charlton, and John J. Venincasa of Worcester; two brothers, Alfred and Francis Venincasa both of Sutton; a sister, Gloria Talbot of Worcester; fourteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Theresa Roy, and two brothers, Paul and Donald Venincasa both pre deceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Antonio and Catherine (Romeo) Venincasa. He graduated from St. John's High School, earned his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Assumption College and his Master's Degree in Education from Worcester State College. He has lived here all his life. Anthony retired from teaching in 1988 after serving as an English teacher in numerous City of Worcester Public Schools, including Forest Grove Junior High. He taught piano lessons for many years. He also played the accordion, was an avid Celtics and Red Sox fan, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Anthony was a member of St. Stephen's Church, and the Massachusetts Teachers Association. The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 7th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:30 a.m. in St Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Tuesday, April 7th from 9 to 11 am in the funeral home prior to the funeral.
