Michael Ciociolo, Jr., 87, of Shrewsbury formerly of 23 Locust Ave, Worcester passed away peacefully Sunday, March 22nd 2009. Michael's beloved wife Jennie (Evangelista) Ciociolo, passed away in 1981. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Donna M. Rezuke and her husband Paul with whom he lived; two grandchildren, whom he cherished and adored; Jennie and Paul Rezuke Jr.; a brother Matthew Ciociolo and his wife Dottie of West Boylston; his Brother in law and Sister in law, Carl & Christine Iaccarino of Shrewsbury; and Shirley Rezuke of Worcester; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends including his home health aide Angela Finnie, who the family wishes to thank for her constant comfort, care and compassion during his difficult time. Four brothers, Joseph, Louis, Anthony and Angelo Ciociolo and a sister Margaret Wentworth all pre deceased him. Michael was born in Worcester a son, of the late Michael Ciociolo, Sr. and Maria (Mascia) Ciociolo. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in the Battle of the Bulge. It is notable that he and his five brothers were all active servicemen at the same time during World War II. Mike worked many years as a tool & die maker for Vellumoid Corporation before retiring in 1985. Mike was an accomplished amateur Golfer all his life. From 1938 to 1940, Mike held the title as the Worcester County Junior Golf champion. He later was an assistant pro at Wachusett Country Club under head pro Vin Obey, and continued to play golf for as long as he could. He particularly enjoyed playing golf with his friends at Green Hill Country club the "Over the Hill Gang". Mike also had a passion for gardening and maintaining his pristine landscaped yard. His later years were dedicated to spending as much time as he could with his cherished Grandchildren Jennie and Paul Jr. Mike's funeral will be held Wednesday, March 25th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be next to his wife in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Tuesday, March 24th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
