Walter Donat, 95, of Worcester died peacefully Monday March 9, 2009 surrounded by his family in the Notre Dame Extended Care Center. Walter is survived by his wife Marie E. (Roberto) Donat, a son Dr. Walter Edward Donat and his wife Susan of Cranston R.I., and a daughter Karen Olivier and her husband William of Shrewsbury, a sister Olga Czelder of New Jersey, and five grandchildren. Walter was born in New York son of the late Edward and Caroline (Sturm) Donat and came to the Worcester area many years ago. Walter worked as an engraver and also as a salesman for a local food company. He was a WW11 Army Veteran serving in the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre. Walter's funeral will be held Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in the Chapel Of Notre Dame Du Lac Assisted Living Center 559 Plantation St. a calling hour will be held from 8:30AM until 9:30AM in the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the National Veteran's Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 PM.
