Virginia M. "Vig" (Kirby) Pepi, of Worcester passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 3rd 2009 surrounded by her family after a long illness. Virginia is survived by her devoted husband and partner of 60 years, Robert J. Pepi; A. beloved son, Robert P. Pepi and his wife Carol of Franklin; two cherished granddaughters, Chelsea and Lauren; a brother, Joseph Kirby of Shrewsbury; many nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Richard, Paul and Philip Kirby and a sister, Helen Molinari all pre deceased her. Vig was born in Worcester; her parents were the late Philip and Gertrude (Nihill) Kirby. She graduated from Commerce high school and has lived here all her life. Virginia worked more than 16 years as Office Manager for Christie Chemical Company before retiring. Virginia was an active devoted member and former CCD teacher of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, a member and former President of the Church Women's Guild. She co chaired with her husband the Christmas Bazaar, Carnival and New Years Eve functions. A devoted wife and mother, her family was most important to Virginia, especially her granddaughters whom she adored and cherished. The funeral will be held Saturday, March 7th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held Saturday, March 7th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.
