The Rev. Geoffrey W. Lennan, former Rector of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in N. Billerica, MA was joyfully reunited with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in the McCarthy Care Center of Sandwich, MA. Fr. Geoff was born in Worcester in 1928, son of Col. Albert W. and Marjorie R. (Richards) Lennan. He graduated from the former Worcester Classical High in 1946. He received a BA from Clark University with honors in 1950. After graduation, he specialized in sales for various companies, completing his sales career as General Manager and VP of Sales for Harold Symonds Associates of Marblehead, MA in 1970. In 1970, he entered Yale Divinity School, graduating in 1973 with a Master of Theology. He served as Curate of St. Anne's Church in Lowell, MA; Rector of The Church of The Epiphany in Wilbraham, MA, and retired from St. Anne's Church in N. Billerica after serving there as Pastor for 14 years. He dearly loved the people of all of his parishes, and considered them members of his family. He was an honorary member of All Saints Church (Worcester) choir, a chaplain in the Order of St Luke, a member of Thomas Talbot Lodge AF & AM in Billerica. He was active in the Cursillo movement. He retired from active ministry in 1995, moving to Kennebunkport, ME, and then later to Cape Cod to be closer to his daughters and granddaughter. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict & Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a Captain. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was an avid genealogist, proud of his English/Irish/Viking heritage, tracing his roots back to William Penn and Bryant Lennan. He is survived by two daughters: Lisa Christine (Lennan) Freeman, wife of Roy Robert Freeman of Brewster, MA., and Deborah Nancy Lennan of Millbury, MA. A granddaughter, Marissa Christine Freeman of Brewster, MA, two sisters-in-law, Jamie Lennan of Springfield, PA, and Ruth Lennan of Biddeford, ME. Many nieces and nephews also survive him. He is predeceased by his brothers, Albert, who died in 1986 and David, who died in 2005. His wife of 24 years, Nancy Lennan died in 1981. Fr. Geoff's memorial service celebrating his life will be held at St. Anne's in N. Billerica, MA on Friday, February 27, at 12:30 p.m. Mercadante Funeral Home, Plantation St, Worcester, MA is in charge of the arrangements.
