Warren V. Gleason, 77, of North Oxford, and Clearwater Florida, formerly of Worcester passed away Monday, February 16th 2009 surrounded by his family. Warren is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 54 years, Catherine M. (Rugg) Gleason; his four children, Warren V. Gleason, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Charlton, Robert Gleason and his wife Paula of Spencer, Lisa Schlegel and her husband Brian of Hubbardston, Carol Lee and her husband James of Auburn; two brothers, Cornelius Gleason of Shrewsbury and Russell Gleason of Marlboro; four grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Ethan and Jillian; many nieces and nephews. Warren was born in Worcester, one of ten children born to John and Elizabeth (Corydon) Gleason. He served in the U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry Division during the Korean War and lived in Worcester and Clearwater Florida before moving to North Oxford. Warren worked more than 20 years as a mechanic for the Worcester Post Office before retiring. He previously worked as a mechanic for the Worcester Police Department. Warren was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts in both Clearwater Florida and the Southworks Post in Worcester, and the St Vincent de Paul society, and The National Association of Government Employees association. He was a former longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He also enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. The funeral will be held Thursday, February 19th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. inn St Catherine of Sweden Church, 1 Wiser Ave. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park will be held at the convenience of the family. A period of calling hours will be held in the funeral home, Thursday, February 19th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the mass.
