Mary Costa

Mary (Christo) Costa, 85, a Shrewsbury resident for the past 41 years, passed away Sunday, February 15th 2009 in her home surrounded by her cherished family. Mary's husband of 58 years, Peter D. Costa passed away May 9th of 2005. She is survived by her devoted children, Diana Costa with whom she lived, Michael P. Costa and his wife Angela of Shrewsbury, Patricia Schwarzenberg and her husband Mario of Charlton, four adored grandchildren, Jason, Philip, Jennifer and Christopher; two great grandchildren; Adam Peter Schwarzenberg and Grace Madison Costa; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Peter and Theodore Christo predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of John and Vasil (Andon) Christo. Mary grew up in Worcester and has lived in Shrewsbury for the past 41 years. Mary was a member of St Mary Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church. Mary's funeral will be held Wednesday, February 18th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St. Burial will follow next to her husband in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family; Tuesday, February 17th from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. A Trisagion service will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday during calling hours.
