Kevin P. Mahan, 56, of Millbury, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009. He leaves his dedicated wife of thirty-three years, Cheryl A. (Sarkisian) Mahan; a loving son, Christopher P. Mahan and his wife Jamie of Worcester; a sister, Kathleen Gilmond and her husband Lawrence of Millbury; two brothers, Richard Mahan, Jr. of Worcester and Sean Mahan of Chelsea; a sister in law, Michele Consiglio and her husband Mauro of Walpole; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a long line of loving and devoted friends. Kevin was born in Syracuse, New York and grew up in Millbury, where he graduated from Millbury High School, and later from Worcester State College. Later in life he furthered his studies and received a Master's Degree in Psychology from Framingham State College. Kevin served his nation proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Kevin spent many years dedicated to helping others through his work as an addiction and substance abuse councilor. Kevin took comfort in his commitment to his sobriety and his active participation in A.A. for over twenty years, something his family was deeply proud of. The funeral for Kevin will be held Wednesday, February 18, at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will be private. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 17, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
