Vytautas "Vic" Zvirblis, 86, formerly of Viking Terrace in Worcester, passed away, Friday, January 30, 2009, in the Auburn Lifecare Center. His longtime friend and companion, Anne Butkevich, passed away in December 2007. Vic is survived by his family, Anne's three children, her son, Paul Butkevich and his wife Jane of Sterling, their children, Shelley and her husband Brian Koneczny of Shrewsbury, Nikki Butkevich of Worcester and Todd Butkevich of Boston; daughter, Nancy Grillo and her husband Paul of Naples, Florida; son , Robert Butkevich of Dallas, Texas; and Anne's Brother, Joseph Swikla of Sterling. Vic was born in Utena, Lithuania. While in living in Europe he was an enforced laborer during World War II as a result of the German occupation of Poland. Following the war he emigrated to the United States to enjoy a life of freedom and the American Dream. Vic was a member of the PNI Club in Worcester. He enjoyed travelling, the beach, gardening, feeding the birds and gathering regularly for family dinners. The family would like to thank the kind people at Auburn Lifecare, for their love, care and devotion to Vic; for they too treated him as family. A Memorial Mass for Vic will be celebrated on Friday, February 6, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester. Following the Mass his urn will be entombed in Notre Dame Mausoleum. There are no calling hours.
