Giovanni "John" Cacciate

Giovanni "John" Cacciate, of Worcester died peacefully Thursday January 29, 2009 in the Autumn Village. Giovanni is survived by his wife of 60 years Teresa (Barbato) Cacciate, a sister Assunta Cacciate in Naples Italy, a sister in law Grazia Sodano of Worcester, and several nephews and nieces. Two brothers Gennaro and Vincenzo predeceased him. Giovanni was born in Naples Italy son of the late Antonio and Antonetta Cacciate and served in the Italian Army. He came to the United States in 1965 and settled in Worcester. Giovanni worked at the former Arduini Manufacturing Company for many years before he retired. He was a long time member of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, and in his younger years was a semi pro Soccer player in Italy. He will be missed by his family and friends. Giovanni's funeral will be held Tuesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 A.M. in Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 5-8 P.M.on Monday. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
