John F. Ferraro, 79, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 28th 2009 in his home surrounded by his cherished and beloved family. John is survived by his wife and partner of 25 years, Elena A. (Ferrari) Ferraro; his four devoted children, Diane Lukas, Lisa Ferraro and Steven J. Ferraro all of Worcester; Elaine Docimo and her husband Richard of West Brookfield; two brothers, Joseph Ferraro on Cape Cod and Michael Ferraro in Minnesota; two sisters, Camille Kelly of Shrewsbury and Laura Mello in R.I.; nine grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Lukas, Tabitha, Richard Docimo Jr., Adrianne, Michelina, Angela, Gideon and Gabriel Docimo; two great Grandchildren; Julian and Madaline; many nieces, nephews and friends. A brother Frank Ferraro Jr. and his former wife Elaine (Dufresne) Ferraro pre deceased him. John was born in Worcester, son of Frank and Priscilla (Abatantuono) Ferraro. He left high school, entering the U.S. Army to serve during the Korean War. John then earned his diploma graduating from the first night life educational program in Worcester. He and his wife enjoyed spending the summers in Worcester and winters in Florida. He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, The Italian American Post 3 VFW, and the Eastside Post 201 American Legion, the Eastside Improvement Club and the Worcester Lodge of Elks. He was also an avid Golfer. John worked 37 years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Works retiring as supervisor in 1990. John's funeral will be held Monday, February 2nd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, February 1st from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
