Mauro P. Ruggere, 91, of Shrewsbury passed away Saturday, January 24th in the Westboro Healthcare after an illness. Mauro's wife of 46 years Frances A. (Mastro) Ruggere passed away in 1991. Mauro is survived by a son, Paul M. Ruggere with whom he lived; two brothers, John P. and Daniel Ruggieri; and a sister, Cecelia Charamella all of Worcester; two grandchildren, David Ruggere and his wife Danielle in Georgia; Justine White and her husband Michael in Texas; three great grandchildren, Thomas, Frances and Jessica; many nieces and nephews. Three grandchildren, Michael, Paul and Lisa Ruggere and a brother, Aldo D. Ruggieri all pre deceased him. Born in Worcester, he was a son of Domenic and Josephine (Martucci) Ruggieri. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and has lived in Shrewsbury most of his life. Mauro worked more than 29 years for the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier in Shrewsbury before retiring in 1980. Mauro was a life member of Chapter #4, Disabled American Veterans, South Works Post and the Victor Quaranta Post American Legion in Shrewsbury, The National Association of Government Employees Association, the National Association of Letter Carriers branch 12, and the U.S. Air Force, 57th Bomb Wing Association. Funeral services for Mauro will be held Wednesday, January 28th at 11:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will follow next to his wife in Mt View Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
