Raymond E. Rondeau

Raymond E. Rondeau, 87, of Trinity Avenue in Worcester, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 16, 2009. He leaves his wife of fifty-nine years, Doris Ruby (Dougall) Rondeau. Raymond is also survived by two daughters, Sharon Parodeau and her husband Vincent of Holden and Marlene Wheeler and her husband David of Boylston; two grandsons, Robert Parodeau of Webster and Jason Fortier of Boylston; a lifelong friend and uncle, Peter Rondeau, and many cousins. A son, Gary James Rondeau pre-deceased him in April 1959. He was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Marion Mary (Roberts) Rondeau, and has lived here all his life. He attended Saint John's School. Mr. Rondeau served his nation proudly in the United States Army, during World War II. He served in the 908 Field Artillery-83rd Infantry Division, 22nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 4th Armored Division in Germany. For forty three years Raymond worked in the forge shop at Wyman-Gordon Company-Worcester Plant, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the former Notre Dame Church, now Holy Family Parish in Worcester. He was a member of The Frohsinn Club in Shrewsbury. He volunteered to craft bird houses for the Notre Dame Parish Bazaar. He attended the Zion Church Senior Citizens Club, and was a member of the Norton Company Caravan Social Travel Club. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union #2285, and was a member of The V.F.W. South Works Post #3657. He was a peaceful and caring person, who enjoyed nature and all types of animals. He found tremendous joy in the quiet time, sharing stories with his family. He also enjoyed warm summers at Hampton Beach. The funeral will be held Tuesday, January 20, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Parish (formerly Saint Joseph), 35 Hamilton Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday, January 19, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Chance Animal Fund, P.O. Box 118, Bolton, MA 01740.
