Domenic M. Vacca, 93, of Worcester, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009, in his home. He is survived by his wife of nearly twenty-seven years, Marie J. (Ciociolo) Marek-Vacca; a daughter, Maria Elena Gregarczyk and her husband John of Worcester; Richard M. Vacca of Lowell, and Worcester Police Lieutenant, Michael L. Vacca of Worcester; two step-daughters, Cynthia M. Mazzola of Rutland and Paulette Magaw and her husband Clyde of Princeton; four grandchildren, Chelli L. Tennis and her husband Kerry of Nottingham, NH, Christopher Boucher and his wife Kelly of Oxford, Matthew M. Vacca and Joanna Ellwood both of Columbus, Ohio; five step grandchildren, Lyndsay M. Mazzola of Watertown, Craig S. Mazzola of Sacramento, CA, Chad J. Mazzola of Boston, Chester B. Marek, III of Worcester, and Angela Lee of Worcester; five great grandchildren, Samuel, Jessica, Heather, Jonathan and Joshua; a step great grandson, Chester; many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Angelina M. (DiVerdi) Vacca in 1978, a step son, Chester B. Marek, and his sister, Antoinette. Domenic was born in Campobasso, Italy, the son of Nicholas and Michelina Vacca, and moved here when he was eight years old. Mr. Vacca worked for over thirty-nine years as a sheet metal worker for Heald Machine, before he retired in 1980. He enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables; but was known in his neighborhood as "the little old wine maker", for the exceptional homemade wine he made and shared with family and friends.
