Samuel J. Aquino, 95, of Worcester passed away Thursday, January 15th 2009 in the Christopher House surrounded by his family. Sam is survived by his devoted and cherished wife of 71 years, Genevieve "Jean" (Sylvestrzak) Aquino; four grandchildren, Paul & Stephen Aquino, Trevor and Brett Nardini; two great grandchildren Kevin and Anne Aquino; a brother Michael Aquino of Auburn; a daughter in law, Beverly (Ciullo) Aquino of Worcester; a son in law Alfred L. Nardini of Scituate; many nieces and nephews. Sam's son, Anthony S. Aquino passed away in 2004 and his daughter Jean Nardini passed away in 2005; three brothers, John, Philip and James Aquino and three sisters, Josephine Wall, Connie Puretta and Ann Rosano all pre deceased him; Samuel was born in Worcester, a son of Anthony and Antoinette (Amatrudi) Aquino and has lived here all his life. Sam worked as a Lathe Operator for Coppus Engineering many years before retiring in 1988. Sam was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, the Eastside Improvement Club, and an auxiliary member of the Italian American Legion Post #3. He was a dedicated family man, who cherished his wife, children and family. The funeral will be held Saturday, January 17th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 12 noon in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Entombment will be private. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday, January 16th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
