George H. Marrino, 97, of Whitney Place, Westborough, formerly of Northborough and Worcester, died Tuesday, January 13th 2009, in the Beaumont of Westborough, after a brief illness. His wife of 44 years, Rose (Cataldo) died in 1981. He leaves a son, George A. Marrino and his wife Susan, of Millbury, and a daughter, Carolyn Marrino, of Worcester; six grandchildren - Traci Cook, John Marrino, Tanya Lane, Lynn Gregory, Tyler Lane, and Joseph Marrino; six great-grandchildren - Savanah Marrino, Abigail Lane, Ella Gregory, Jillian Marrino, Derek Gregory, and Erin Marrino; many nieces and nephews. Five brothers, Leonard, Albert, Walter, Archibald, and Alfred, and one sister, Clara Lebruto, pre-deceased him. George was born in Worcester on February 22nd, 1911, the son of Joseph and Clementina (Abruzzesse) Marrino. He was a 1930 Graduate of Worcester Boy's Trade High School, and lived here all his life. Mr. Marrino was a licensed Master and Journeyman electrician, and worked for many local electrical contractors before forming his own electrical construction company, which he ran for many years. After leaving his business, George worked for General Motors - Fisher Body Division in Framingham, MA, retiring in 1979. George was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel/St Ann's and Our Lady of Loreto Churches in Worcester, Local #96, IBEW, UAW, and Retired Men's Club of Greendale. He also did volunteer work with the Massachusetts Association for the Blind for many years. George enjoyed bowling, golf, his family and many friends. His counsel and love of life will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Whitney Place and Beaumont, of Westborough, for their wonderful care, compassion and professionalism. A celebration of life funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24th at 10:30 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturaday January 24th prior to the service.
