Francis J. "Sonny" Polli, 73, of Worcester passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence surrounded by family. Francis is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years Mary (Lamarche) Polli; three cherished children, Joseph F. Polli and his wife Diane of Worcester, Brenda J. Moore and her husband James of Jefferson, Rosemarie A. Parker and her husband Whitney of Worcester; two brothers, Richard Polli and his wife Roxanne of Shrewsbury, Raymond Polli and his wife Angela of Worcester; a sister, Theresa Morrow and her husband Arthur of Holden; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Alley, Deanna, Michael, Sarah, Katie and Stefani; many nieces and nephews including Robert Glavin of Worcester; Francis was born in Worcester, a son of Francis A. and Theresa (Paquette) Polli. He graduated from Commerce High school and earned his associates degree from Worcester Junior College. He has lived here all his life. Francis has worked the past 15 years for Yankee Engineering & Testing. Francis was a member of St. John's Church. He loved to Fish and Golf, the Red Sox and Patriots, and especially the career of Doug Flutie from Boston College thru the NFL. The funeral will be held Monday, January 12th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 10:00 am in St. John Church, 44 Temple St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours Sunday, January 11th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
