Philmena L. Principe, 94, of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully, January 6th 2009 in the Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family. Philmena is survived by her cherished sister, Rae Lorito with whom she lived; nieces and nephews including, Maureen and Paul F. Tebo, P.J. and Jennifer Tebo, Michael, Diane, Nick and Ryan Hehir; Three brothers, Michael, and Nick Principe, and Matteo Lorito, and two sisters, Jeanette Principe and Mary Hehir who passed away in 2008 all predeceased her. Phil was born in Shrewsbury, June 13, 1914, a daughter of Pasquale Principe and Pasqua (Bisceglia) Principe, Lorito. She graduated from Shrewsbury High School, and attended Salter Secretarial School. Phil worked more than 38 years as a telephone operator for New England Telephone before retiring. Phil was very skilled in design and construction of Crafts. She was very active and worked extensively for her church St Mary of the Hills in Boylston, on crafts for the Church Festivals, and events. She was also a member of the church "Women of St. Mary of the Hills" for many years. The funeral will be held Saturday, January 10th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in St Mary of the Hills, Church, 630 Cross Street Boylston. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery Worcester. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Friday, January 9th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
