Flavia E. "Flora" (Zollo) Simone, 86, of Worcester died peacefully January 3, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital. Flora is survived by her loving family; her devoted husband of 64 years John "Red' Simone.They would have celebrated their 65th anniversary in May, two sons Robert A. Simone of Dennisport, and Thomas J. Simone and his wife Angela of Shrewsbury, a daughter Angela A. Haddad and her husband George of Shrewsbury, two sisters Anna Dell'Olio and Mildred Zollo both of Worcester, and eight grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Michelle and her husband Ken Kilroy, Maria, Thomas Jr., and his wife Julie, Elaina, John, Alexandra, and many nephews and nieces. Flora was predeceased by a brother Anthony Zollo, and two sisters Amelia Daigle, and Josephine "Pep" Mazzola . Flora was born in Worcester daughter of the late Angelo and Angelina (Calandro) Zollo and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of the David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School, and was a seamstress many years ago for several Worcester clothing companies. Most of all she enjoyed being a homemaker. Flora loved to cook, and enjoyed listening to her Italian music, but most of all cherished her time with her grandchildren and family. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Flora was a devout catholic and was a lifetime member of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church. Flora's funeral will be held Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in Our Lady Of Mt Carmel- St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 4-8PM on Wednesday.
