Mary M. Mercurio - Barnett , 55, of Worcester, died peacefully Saturday January 3, 2009 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence after a short battle with cancer. Mary is survived by her loving family; her husband of seven years James E. Barnett, her daughter Tiffany L. Salo of Worcester, her father Domenic Mercurio Sr, of Worcester, two brothers Domenic Mercurio Jr. of Sturbridge and John Mercurio of Worcester, two granddaughters Marissa and Elizabeth O'Neil of Worcester whom she adored, and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Helen (Perrone) Mercurio, and a brother Michael Mercurio. Mary was born in Worcester and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Doherty High School and Worcester State College. Mary worked in the Worcester office of the Department of Children and Family Services for twenty three years and was still working up until her illness. She attended Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel- St. Ann Church, and enjoyed sewing, going to the beach, and Lighthouses. But she most of all enjoyed being with her grandchildren and family. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Mary's funeral will be held Wednesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:AM in Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel - St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 5-8PM on Tuesday. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
