Vincent A. Montiverdi, Sr., 66, of Northborough, passed away, Tuesday, December 30, 2008, in Memorial Hospital. He leaves loving wife of forty five years, Barbara A. (Kowaleski) Montiverdi. Vincent is also survived by his loving children and their spouses, Vincent A. Montiverdi and his wife Linda of Boylston, Michael A. Montiverdi and his wife Lori of Barre and Melissa L. Oglebay and her husband Jon of Worcester; five grandchildren, Dante, Izabella, Kelseigh, Thomas, and William; three brothers, Victor Montiverdi of Northborough, Deacon Gerald Montiverdi of Worcester and Worcester Police Officer Michael Montiverdi of Sutton; two sisters, Nancy Leary and Elaine Morrow both of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Katie and his best friend, Sampson. A brother, Joseph Montiverdi, pre-deceased him. Vincent was born in Worcester, son of Joseph A. and Virginia R. (Sposato) Montiverdi, where he lived for many years, before moving to Northborough in 1968. He graduated from Worcester North High School and attended The College of The Holy Cross and was active the their R.O.T.C Program. Mr. Montiverdi founded Monti's Pizza Plus in Northborough in 1985, and even after his "retirement" in 1999, he continued to work at the restaurant, where he was known and loved by many throughout the area. Before working for himself, Vincent was a meat inspector for many years with the F.D.A. He was an active member of Saint Rose of Lima Parish, and was a member of the Northborough Lion's Club, and the Massachusetts Small Business Association. The funeral for Mr. Montiverdi will be held Monday, January 5, 2009 from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Saint Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main Street, Northborough. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 4, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
