Gerald F. Trafecante, 85, of Shrewsbury died unexpectedly December 25, 2008 Christmas Day in the UMASS Medical Center. Gerald is survived by his daughter Diane Shedd, a granddaughter Jennifer Vandenburgh, a grandson Dustin Taylor, and a sister Catherine "Kay" Trafecante all of Shrewsbury, a step daughter Maureen Peters of Auburn, and also his long time companion Nancy Sullivan of Worcester. Gerald also leaves two Aunts Mary (Bronzo) Gerardi, and Rose (Bronzo) Ricchutti both of Worcester. Gerald was born in Worcester son of the late Michael and Minnie (Bronzo) Trafecante, and was a graduate of Belmont Prep School, and North High School. Gerald served his country in the United States Army during WW11 as a Heavy Machine Gunner in Normandy and France. He was the owner of the Crescent Café in Worcester, and Bronzo's in Shrewsbury for many years. Gerald was a longtime member of St Anne's Church, The American Legion Posts # 201 and #341 both in Worcester.He was very proud of his Italian Heritage and enjoyed his Sunday dinners with his family,and playing the piano. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Gerald's funeral will be held Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in St. Anne's Church 130 Boston Turnpike. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 4PM to 7PM Sunday. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Human Services of St. Anne's Church 130 Boston Turnpike Shrewsbury, MA.01545. Members of the East Side Post # 201 will meet at 6PM to conduct their ritual.
