Georgette Kahale

Georgette (Yanni) Kahale, 78, of Auburn and Worcester passed away peacefully Sunday, December 21, 2008 in St Vincent Hospital surrounded by her devoted family. Georgette is survived by her husband of 57 years Wadih Kahale; her devoted eight children, George Kahale and his wife Mona, Jacqueline Ventriglia, Houda Daou and her husband Kazhaya, Yvette Aboody and her husband George, Elie Kahale and his wife Marianna, Dori Kahale and his wife Tammy, Tanios Kahale, Samira Shalhoub and her husband Ronald; a brother, Raymond Yanni; twenty one grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. Georgette was born in Beirut, Lebanon a daughter of Elia and Nazleh (Halal) Yanni and has lived in the Worcester area most of her life. Georgette was a chef for the former El Morocco Restaurant many years before retiring. She also volunteered her time assisting to prepare meals for Our Lady of Perpetual Help church, St George Orthodox Cathedral and Our Lady of Mercy church functions. She was also a member of Project Linus. Georgette was a dedicated mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved to cook for her family and others; She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Georgette was a beautiful, gentle, caring and loving soul, who will be deeply missed. Many will remember her courage as she worked tirelessly to bring her eight children to the United States. She is a hero to all of us. Georgette's funeral will be held Monday, December 29th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a service at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 256 Hamilton St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday, December 28th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 9:30 am to 10:30 am Monday, December 29th in the funeral home. The Kahale family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and aides at St Vincent Hospital for the care, compassion and understanding that they provided for our mother.
