Julia "Judy" (Barnaby) Burkhardt, 87, formerly of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully Sunday, December 14th in the Beaumont of Northboro. Her husband, William Burkhardt, passed away in 1982. Judy, one of seven children was born in Southbridge a daughter of Eugene and Esther (Ferro) Barnaby. She grew up in Southbridge, and lived most of her adult life in Shrewsbury on the shores of Lake Quinsigamond enjoying the breeze under the Sycamore tree. She is survived by her daughter Elaine of Shrewsbury. "Gram" also leaves behind her grandchildren, Marc Rischitelli or Shrewsbury, Susan Radziewicz of Charlton, Jonathan Rischitelli of North Brookfield and David M. Rischitelli of Shrewsbury; seven great grandchildren; a sister Antoinette DiGravio of Plymouth; a brother Albert Barnaby of Sandwich and a sister-in-law, Sally Barnaby of Webster. Her two sons, David H. Rischitelli passed away in 2002 and Richard Rischitelli passed away in 2006. For decades Julia enjoyed her job as a waitress at the Old Nick's Grill in Worcester and later for many years at Indian Meadows in Westboro. She was a member of St. Anne's Church. The funeral will be held Thursday, December 18th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Burial will be in Mt View Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, December 18th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
