Daniel M. DiStefano, 85, of Worcester passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 in his home after being stricken ill. Dan's wife of 56 years Catherine T. (Gracia) DiStefano passed away in 2003. He is survived by his two devoted children, Michael DiStefano and his wife Maureen of Grafton, Daniel DiStefano and his wife Linda of Worcester; five cherished grandchildren, Daniel, David, Joseph, Michael and Kara; a great grandson Nicholas; many nieces, nephews and friends. Two brothers, John and Santo DiStefano and six sisters, Elizabeth Zingarelli, Angelina Azzarone, Michelina DiStefano, Rose Meserve, Mary Devio and Josephine DiStefano all pre deceased him. Dan was born in Worcester his parents were Michael and Lucrezia (Clementi) DiStefano. He attended Commerce High School, and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade. He has lived here all his life. Dan worked more than 39 years in the Plastics industry for Worcester Molded Plastics, DiPerro Plastics and Produx Inc. retiring in 1980. Dan was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. A former member of The Worcester Lodge Sons of Italy, and the Worcester Elks. He loved to Golf, enjoyed hunting and fishing and time spent on Cape Cod, but most of all he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandson Nicholas. The funeral will be held Monday, December 15th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial next to his wife will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, December 15th from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
