F. Warren Gibson, 73, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Milton, MA, passed away Sunday, December 7th 2008 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital, surrounded by family, after being stricken ill on Thursday at home. Warren's wife of 41 years M. Patricia (McWhirter) Gibson passed away March 18th. Warren is survived by his two devoted children, Kathryn Gibson-Torres and her husband Luis of Shrewsbury, Paul A. Gibson and his wife Lisa of North Dartmouth; five cherished grandchildren, Alysa, Maya, Andres, Ella and Will. Two brothers, Edwin F. Gibson and his wife Jane of South Paris, Maine; William H. Gibson and his wife Jane of West Paris, Maine, a sister, Joan G. Wheeler and her husband Glenn of McKinney, Texas; many nieces and nephews. Warren was born in Portland, Maine the youngest son of Leslie and Annette (Stearns) Gibson. He graduated from Paris High School, and earned his Bachelors degree from Bowdoin College in 1960. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. He later graduated from Williams College School of Banking. Warren and Patricia lived and raised their family in Milton MA most of their life before moving to Shrewsbury seven years ago. Warren worked in the banking industry all his life. He was a banker and mortgage broker for several banking firms in Maine and Massachusetts before retiring from Boston 5 Cent Savings Bank. Warren enjoyed the outdoors, skiing, and most recently spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his joy. The funeral will be held Friday, December 12th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross St. Boylston. Burial in Mt. View Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, December 11th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
