WORCESTER- Gisele Angers of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 1, 2008 with her loving family by her side. Born on June 30, 1918 in Canada, Gisele was the daughter of Dowina and Hectorine (Desmarais) Joyal. She moved to the United States in 1942 upon her marriage to Aime A. Angers, who predeceased her back in 1970. Gisele worked for the Worcester School Department for 26 years, retiring in 1997 at the "young" age of 79. Most of her working years were spent as a cafeteria worker for Rice Square School, and later Roosevelt School. Gisele thoroughly enjoyed her work. She treasured being out with people and enjoying life. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Worcester and a former member of the Dames de St. Anne Organization. Gisele was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother as well as a friend to so many. She never lost that genuine French accent that we will all surely miss. She enjoyed cooking and sewing as well as sharing laughter and conversation with her friends and family. Gisele was never short for words! Gisele leaves 2 sons, Bernard Angers and Marc Angers, both of Worcester along with a daughter, Cynthia Barnaby and her husband, Michael, of West Boylston. Gisele's daughter, Michele O'Leary, passed away in 2005. Gisele also leaves two grandchildren, Kevin and Jillian Barnaby of West Boylston who truly meant the world to her, as well as many dear nephews, nieces and friends. Gisele was one of nine children. She also leaves a brother, Guy Joyal and his wife Lucille, three sisters, Suzanne Forte, Yolande Lasnier and Marthe Joyal, and a brother-in-law, Claude Ostiguy, all of Canada. She was predeceased by three brothers, Yvon Joyal, Jean-Leon Joyal and Gaetan Joyal, as well as a sister, Mariette Ostiguy. In memory of Gisele, the family wishes to extend its deepest appreciation to all the devoted home health aides from Americare, the caring VNA nurses and volunteers, and especially the wonderful, supportive staff of Summit Eldercare who together allowed us to enjoy Gisele's laughter and spirit right up to the end. We will be forever grateful to you all.
