Mauro "Tut" Losapio, 87, of Marborough, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2008 in Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center. Mauro is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Josephine "Peppy" (Abasciano) Losapio; a daughter Barbara M. Fitzgerald and her husband Patrick of Worcester; two brothers, Arthur Losapio of Worcester and Peter Losapio of Dover, New Hampshire; a sister, Lucy Rinaldi of Worcester; two grandchildren, Jason Fitzgerald of New York City and Kelly and her husband Craig Wencis of Northborough, many nieces and nephews including, Maurice "Butch" Vuona who he helped raise. He was predeceased by a daughter, AnnMarie Harman and a brother, Frank G. Losapio. He was born in Worcester, son of Paul and Mary (Lavalpicello) Losapio, and has lived most of his life in Marlborough. He earned his Associates Degree in Engineering from Worcester Junior College. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Army. Tut worked for various dealerships in auto body before becoming co-owner of Central Auto Rebuilders in Marlborough. He was a generous man, to his family as well as the support of many local organizations. He was a member of the Marlboro Lions Club, Marlboro Fish & Game Assn., and the Eastside Post #201, American Legion. Mauro enjoyed organic gardening, traveling to his Florida home in Flagler Beach, FL and boating with his family on Winnisquam Lake, NH. The funeral for Tut will be held Tuesday, December 2nd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester with a Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held Monday, December 1st from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
