MacMajor, 90, of 629 Salisbury Street, formerly of 523 Cambridge Street in Worcester, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008, with his daughters by his side, in the Jewish Healthcare Center. His beloved wife of fifty years, Bea (Robertson) MacMajor, passed away in September 2007. Stephen in survived by his loving daughters, Jean Doiron and Susan MacMajor both of Worcester; two grandchildren, Alissa and Chirsta Doiron; and three nieces. His brother, Joseph MacMajor, pre-deceased him. Stephen was born in Hillborough, New Hampshire, the son of Joseph and Catherine MacMajor. He attended Worcester public schools. Mr. MacMajor served his nation in The United States Army, during World War II, and was stationed in Africa and Italy. He was a member of The Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435, the Southworks Post 3657 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the D.A.V. Stephen retired in 1979 from Coppus Engineering. He had previously worked for many years at U.S. Steel in Worcester. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, enjoyed candlepin bowling and was an avid Red Sox fan. Stephen's daughters would like to extend a sincere thank you to the third floor staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center, especially Joe, Frances, and Lucy; as well as all the kind people at Jewish Home Hospice. Their kindnesses, care and compassion will be remembered for many years to come. The funeral for Mr. MacMajor will be held Saturday, November 22, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, immediately prior to departing for church. Members of The Vernon Hill American Legion will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, in the funeral home, to conduct their military funeral ritual.
