Anne R. (Ferro) Battista, 86, of Worcester, formerly of 99 Allston Ave. passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 2, 2008 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital with family by her side. Anne's husband Daniel Battista passed away in 1977. She is survived by her devoted family, Daniel A. Battista, his wife Dawn and their children, Heather and Daniel Battista Jr.; Paul F. Battista, his wife Christine and their children Amy and Matthew; a great grandson, Kaden; a great granddaughter, Brittany and her beloved nieces, nephews, brother-in-law and sister-in-laws. Four sisters, Alice Leger, Mary Tortora, Rita Bonnici and Carmela Lanzilotti, and a brother, Anthony Ferro all pre-deceased her. Anne was born in Worcester; her parents were the late Carmine and Annunziata (Abubato) Ferro. She graduated from Commerce High, and has lived in Worcester all her life. Anne worked more than 20 years as a Cafeteria cook for the City of Worcester School Department before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. A dedicated mother and grandmother who loved to cook and bake. Anne cherished the times spent with her family. They were her life. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Christopher House and Christopher Heights for their support and compassion. The funeral will be held Thursday, November 6th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 5th in the funeral home.
