Mauro F. Consiglio, "Maury Conn" 82, of Shrewsbury died Monday October 27, 2008 in the Knollwood Nursing Home. Maury is survived by his loving family; his wife of 53 years Rosalyn M. (DeCaro) Consiglio, a son Mauro F. Consiglio Jr. and his wife Michele of East Walpole, a daughter Kathlene Fournier and her husband Paul of Shrewsbury, a brother Frank Consiglio of West Newton, a sister Dorothy Consiglio of North Andover, four dear grandchildren Mauro F Consiglio 3rd Michael A. Consiglio, Ross P. Fournier, and Anthony J. Fournier, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers Salvatore and John Consiglio, and three sisters, Frances Angelico, Lucy Castagna, and Antoinette Consiglio. Mauro was born in Worcester son of the late Mauro and Lucrezia (Mascolo) Consiglio and has lived in Shrewsbury most of his life. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School, and the Massachusetts Barber's Academy of Boston. He served in the United States Air Force. Mauro was a self employed Barber for over 40 years. He took over his fathers shop on Shrewsbury St. and then moved to 50 Franklin St where he remained in business for many years before he retired. Maury was musically gifted and sang with his own group "The Maury Conn Trio" previous to that he sang with the Perry Conte Band., and for many years was an assistant at the former Manzi Funeral Home, For over 50 years Maury was a baseball umpire with the American Softball Association, the Worcester County Softball Association, and the USSSA Association. He was known as "Mr.UMP" to many of the teams throughout New England. Mauro was a long time member of St. Anne's Church, where he also served as an usher for many years. He loved spending winters in Florida with Rosalyn as they did for many years together. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Maury's funeral will be held Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St Anne's Church 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Shrewsbury. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 5-8PM on Thursday. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery.
