Marco E. Lucente, 82, of Worcester passed away Monday, October 27th 2008 in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his family after being stricken ill on Saturday. Marco is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Edith (Palumbo) Lucente; his three children, Mark Lucente and his wife Marcia of Shrewsbury, Marie Ushinski, Michael Lucente and his wife Deborah all of Worcester; his cherished grandchildren, Melissa Johnson and her husband Christopher, Mallory, Christina, and Marco Lucente, Michelle, John Marco and Nicholas Ushinski; many nieces, nephews and friends. Three sisters, Eva Busby, Mary DiCicco and Eleanor Moroz, three brothers, Joseph, Alfred, and Francis DePari all pre deceased him. Marco was born in Worcester, a son of Marco and Natalina (Nicoletti) Lucente. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Alaska and has lived here all his life. Marco worked more than 35 years as a Heavy Equipment operator for Bayer & Mingolla Company before starting his own business Lucente Asphalt Paving with his sons, where he worked until his death. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, The International brotherhood of Operators Union, Local #4 and #98, The Men's Biscegliese society, the Post #3, Italian American War Veterans, the Eagles Club, Brown Square Civic and the Columbus Civic Association. Marco's funeral will be held Thursday, October 30th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel, St. Ann Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday, October 29th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish Building Fund, 24 Mulberry St. 01604.
