Frederick P. Cordella, 88, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday October 22, 2008 in the Christopher House, surrounded by his loving family. His wife Louise (Zolla) Cordella died in 1979. "Fred" is survived by his three sons; Frederick Cordella of Holden, David Cordella and his wife Mary Jane of Shrewsbury, Robert Cordella and his wife Patricia of Worcester, one brother Ray Cordella of Florida, seven grandchildren; Julie, David, Amanda, Michael, Daniel, Bonnie and Maria, and three great grandchildren; Andrew, Marin, and Lana. And many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother David "Paul" Cordella, and two sisters Frances Naponen, and Phyllis Carelli. Frederick was born in Worcester son of the late David and Mary (Simoncini) Cordella and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. Frederick was a Machinist and worked for the U.S. Envelope Company for many years before he retired, he also worked at the former Elbro Tool Company. Fred was a life member of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, and enjoyed bowling. In his younger years he made the tryouts for the Boston Braves. He loved baseball and was a coach for many years for the local little leagues including the American Legion Post 201, Bayer Mingolla, and the Babe Ruth Senior League. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. A private funeral and burial in Notre Dame Cemetery will be held Friday at the families Convenience. There are no calling hours. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. is assisting the family with arrangements.
