Helen F. Possidente, 96, of Worcester, passed away Tuesday, September 23rd 2008 in the Beaumont at the Commons. Helen was born in Worcester, April 2nd 1912, a daughter of Eugene and Immaculata (Guglielmello) Possidente. She graduated from Worcester Public Schools and Becker Junior College. Helen then worked as the Billing Clerk over 23 years for the Starr Dry Goods Company before retiring in 1977. She is survived by nieces and nephews including Francis "Butch" Mahoney, whom she raised since age 3 and thought of as a son and his wife Grace Mahoney. A brother, Alfred Possidente, and three sisters, Rita Mahoney, Antoinette Manna and Tillie Campanale all pre deceased her. Helen was a founding member of St. Margaret Mary Church, a member of its Ladies Guild, the Catholic Daughters of America and the St. Anne Church Golden Age. Helen's funeral will be held Thursday, September 25th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held Thursday, September 25th from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
