Mark Furtado,51, of South Grafton died peacefully Friday September 12, 2008 in the UMASS Memorial Hospital, Belmont St. surrounded by his family. Mark is the beloved Dad of Charles Whitney with the United States Marines in Mississippi, loving brother to Jorge G. Furtado, Matthew J. Furtado, and Gwyn Shaw. Mark is also survived by a special niece Rebecca Furtado, and god son Stephen Dow, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Laura Ann Furtado. Mark was born August 1, 1957 in Cambridge Massachusetts son of the late George and Carol Furtado and has lived in South Grafton for 13 years. He attended Cambridge Pilot School. Mark worked for the On Target Locating Services Company for many years and was still employed there up until his illness. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Cambridge. He enjoyed being with his family and will be missed by his family and friends. Mark's funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00AM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. Calling hours will be held from 5-8PM on Tuesday. Interment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park,Paxton. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge 7 Oak St. Worcester, Ma.01609.
