Marie J. (LeBeau) Hamel, 94, formerly of Auburn passed away Friday, July 25th, 2008 with family by her side in the Pleasant Bay Care center Brewster. Marie was born January 5, 1914, in Worcester. Her parents were the late Francis and Zoe (DuPont) LeBeau. She grew up in Worcester, lived over 40 years in Auburn before moving to the Cape. Marie's husband Armand Hamel passed away in 1981. She is survived by her devoted daughter in law, Elaine A. Hamel; and a beloved grandson Joseph Hamel both of Hyannis; one brother, Adrian LeBeau of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. Her only son Francis Hamel passed away in 1999. Three brothers, Armand, Roland and Arthur LeBeau and a sister Beatrice Lacey also predeceased her. Marie was a former member of St Joseph Church and its Alter committee. She enjoyed sewing, and rug braiding. The funeral will be held Monday, July 28th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 189 Oxford Street. Burial will follow next to her husband in Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held Monday, July 28th from 9:15 am to 10:15 am in the funeral home.
