Winifred R. (Harding) Greene, 95, of Saybrook Road in Worcester, passed away, Friday, January 25, 2008 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of fifty-eight years, Albert A. Greene, Jr., predeceased her in 1994. Winifred leaves her loving family, two daughters, Donna M. Griffin and her husband Raymond with whom she lived, and Patricia "Pat" Michalak and her husband Paul of Stratford, Connecticut; a son, Albert A. Greene, III and his wife Bernadette of Wrentham; two brothers, Thomas Harding of Newburyport, and Francis Harding of Lowell; a sister, Christina Frawley of Dracut; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Bill, George, Jim, and John Harding, as well as two sisters, Mary Urbowicz and Agnes Flynn, also pre-deceased her. Winifred was born in Lowell, the daughter of John W. and MaryJane (Welsh) Harding; and grew up in Dracut and Lowell, before moving to Worcester in 1947. She was a student at Saint Michael's School in Lowell. Mrs. Greene worked as an inspector for Astra Pharmaceuticals in Westborough for many years, before she retired. She had previously worked for Phalo Plastics. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where she served on the altar guild, taught C.C.D., was a eucharistic minister, and had served many years on the parish council. She was also a Girl Scout and Brownie adult leader. The funeral for Winifred will be held Tuesday, January 29, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester. Entombment will follow in Saint John's Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held Monday, January 28, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
