Willis Gomez, 80, of Worcester, passed away, Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Saint Vincent Hospital. His wife of sixty-two years, Mary J. (Corvino) Gomez, passed away in June 2007. He is survived by a son, Gary Gomez; and a daughter, Susan Hughes both of Worcester; six grandchildren, Sharyn Hughes, Shelley Lemieux, Ronilee Gomez, Heather Gomez, Jason Gomez, and Gary Gomez Jr.; three great grandchildren, Kayla Lemieux, Ryan Lemieux, and Cameron Winn; many nieces and nephews. A son, Robert Gomez, pre-deceased him in 1988. Willis was born in Worcester, the son of Irving and Grace Gomez, and has lived here all his life. He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Gomez worked as an oil burner technician and pipe fitter for many years with Grasesschi Plumbing and Heating, having previously worked for Norton Company of Worcester. The funeral for Mr. Gomez will be held Wednesday, April 23, at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 22, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
