William John Costello, 70, of Spencer, died peacefully, February 3, 2008 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He leaves his wife of 24 years, K.Elaina (Cromidas) Costello, a daughter, Denise Emily DiCato and her husband Salvatore of Winthrop, a step son , Ian Leisk of Maine; three brothers, Vincent Costello of California, Joseph Costello of South Carolina and John Francis of Illinois; a sister, Josephine Morse of Florida; two grandchildren, Michael and Matthew DiCato and many nieces and nephews. William was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, son of Anthony and Emily (Marano) Costello. He was a graduate of Chelsea High School and has lived in Spencer for six years. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and worked for the Raytheon Company as an optical technician for over fifteen years. A funeral service for William will be Thursday, February 7th at 7:00 P.M. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Calling hours will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. In recognition for his love for animals, the family has suggested donations be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
